This is the 200th Phantom Dancer over the Community Radio Network across Australia.

You can now hear it online at

Meanwhile, on its home station 107.3 2SER Sydney, Greg Poppleton has been bringing you The Phantom Dancer, your non-stop 2 hour swing and jazz mix from live 1920s-60s radio and TV, since it all began in December 1985.

This makes Greg Poppleton Australia's longest running swing DJ, starting long before swing regained fashionability, and Australia's longest running jazz broadcaster.

Today's Phantom Dancer includes a set of Duke Ellington trombonist's Juan Tizol compositions, a set of Cuban rhythms by Xavier Cugat and Desi Arnez, 2 sets of rare mid-1930s swing, a set of bop singers, a set of Bix Beidebecke including what is said to be the first ever recorded jazz ballad, and a set of the great jazz singers Sarah Vaughan, Carmen McCrae and Billie Holliday - all from live 1920s-60s radio and TV broadcasts.

If you're at the computer rather than the radio, The Phantom Dancer is live-streamed Tuesday 12 - 2pm, And you can hear past Phantom dancers archived at as well. At, click on Program Guide, then Phantom Dancer in the Tuesday column, and scroll down for the show you want to hear.

Your Phantom Dancer Video of the Week is a music video, filmed in the Netherlands by the Roy Fox Orchestra in 1933, advertising the song, 'Nobody's Sweetheart', for Decca Records. Enjoy!
